China Study Tour

 

Chinese Immersion Program (1 day)

The Confucius Institute at the University of Melbourne has developed the Language Immersion Program, which uniquely simulates a study tour in China, tailored for language students who cannot travel internationally due to the epidemic. This program give opportunities to the participants to fully immerse themselves in the Chinese language and culture. Participants of all proficiency levels will engage in a ray of thrilling learning activities conducted solely in Mandarin.

The Confucius Institute Emerging Leaders Study Program

This program is open to any student or young professional that are non-Chinese nationals. You do not need to be a student of the University of Melbourne or have studied Chinese previously to join. Chinese Language Immersion Program 

This program is an opportunity for students learning Mandarin to fully immerse themselves in the Chinese language and culture. This program has been tailored to simulate a study tour to China which due to the current pandemic, isn’t possible. Students of all proficiency levels will have the chance to engage in a ray of activities all conducted in Mandarin. This program can be offered in a half day or full day mode, and can also be offered as an overnight camp, depending on the needs of the student cohort.

The Confucius Institute Emerging Leaders Study Program 2018

24 November - 6 December, 2018

The Confucius Institute Emerging Leaders Study Program is a fantastic opportunity for students and young professionals (35 years and under) to learn about Chinese language, culture and the modern Chinese economy through a Nanjing University language short-course and business visits. This tour included a number of business visits, briefings and cultural activities, as well as visits to Beijing, the capital city of China, Nanjing, China’s ancient capital and place of one of China’s Top 5 Universities (Nanjing University) and Shanghai, the international financial and commercial centre of China. 

Highlights included:

  1. Intensive Chinese language course
  2. Business networking event with EMBA students
  3. Business briefings at the Australian Embassy and Austcham

 


China Arts Study Program 2018

The Confucius Institute at the University of Melbourne partnered with Asia Education Foundation to provide the China Arts Study Program in 2015. It offered a fantastic opportunity to learn about Chinese art and culture through a ten-day study program to Shanghai, Hangzhou and Beijing. The program was led by accomplished Chinese-Australian Calligraphy and Painting Master, Mr. Xu Huawen. 

Highlights included:

Confucius Thought for School Leadership - China Study Program 2015

16 - 27 October 2015

Asia Education Foundation and the Confucius Institute at the University of Melbourne partnered to bring a unique study program for school leaders.  

Accompanied by Ms Julia Gong, the Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Melbourne, participants spent time in four key locations – Beijing, Qufu, Nanjing and Shanghai – to understand contemporary China and future impact on world affairs and education with an historic context.  Participants shared their leadership experience with peers in China during a leadership forum, and gained a deeper understanding of the Confucius thought on school leadership. Participants met with the Australian Education International and Austrade staff to expand knowledge of Australia-China bilateral relations and the importance of educational linkages. The group also took the high speed train to Qufu, home of the Confucius Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Qufu is famously known as the birthplace of Confucius. 

 

Confucius Institute Art and Cultural Tour 2014

The 2014 Confucius Institute Art Study Tour offers a fantastic opportunity to learn about Chinese arts and culture through a ten day study tour to Shanghai, Suzhou and Beijing, led by accomplished Chinese-Australian painter Mr. Xu Huawen. The tour will include gallery visits, exchanges with local artists and a visit to the Shanghai Ballet School. The tour is open to anyone with an interest in the arts or Chinese culture. You do not need to be enrolled at the University of Melbourne or have studied Chinese arts previously to join this tour.

 

Confucius Institute Student and Alumni Study Tour 2013 

The 2013 Confucius Institute Study Tour offers a fantastic opportunity for CI students, alumni, family and friends to put their existing Chinese skills into practice, as well as extending their abilities through a one week intensive Nanjing University language course. The tour includes a number of cultural activities and sightseeing trips in Beijing, Nanjing and Shanghai.
