The University of Melbourne and Asialink are proud to support the Confucius Institute at The University of Melbourne with Nanjing University as its Partner University. The Confucius Institute network has been created to spearhead the teaching of the Chinese language and culture worldwide, as well as acting as a vehicle through which to strengthen economic and business ties. Confucius Institutes are in place across the USA, Europe, Asia and Oceania; with 13 in operation across Australia.
Confucius Institute at the University of Melbourne has a focus on corporate sector engagement, and seeks to equip Victorians with the language and cultural skills necessary for building lasting relationships with Chinese stakeholders. Since the establishment, the Confucius Institute has provided services and training to government organisations, corporations and professionals. Our major clients include the Victorian Department of Education, MMG, Telstra, PWC, NAB, Langham Hotel, National Foods, Thales ATM, and Westpac, etc.
Confucius Institute at the University of Melbourne’s 10th Anniversary Celebration- An evening with Nanjing University’s Traditional Chinese Music Orchestra
The Confucius Institute at the University of Melbourne presents a 10th Anniversary Celebration Concert by the renowned Nanjing University Traditional Chinese Music Orchestra on August 24th. This performance will form part of NJU Orchestra's Australian tour, where they will perform 9 times across 4 states and territories. The evening will also include the announcement of the winner of the Xiamen Airlines photo competition who will receive a free ticket to China. Please join us for an evening of traditional Chinese music and celebration with friends of the Confucius Institute at the University of Melbourne.
Need to improve your basic language skills when engaging with Chinese business partners? This introductory session is designed to help small business staff who have either never learned or are just beginning to learn communication skills in Chinese. Learn basic greetings, an understanding of pronunciation and simple phrases for use in a business context. This event is part of the Victorian Government's Small Business Festival on August 17, 12-2pm.
Registrations and expressions of interest for the 2017 China Tour are due by August 11th 2017. This tour offers a fantastic opportunity for students and young professionals (aged 18-30) to learn about Chinese language and culture and the modern Chinese economy through a Nanjing University language short-course and business visits. The tour also includes a number of briefings and visits in the Yangtze River Delta region. The tour includes visits to Hangzhou, the host city of the 2016 G20 and small business centre of China, Nanjing, China’s ancient capital and place of one of China’s Top 5 Universities (Nanjing University) and Shanghai, the international financial and commercial centre of China.

Confucius Institute Term 3 Chinese Beginners Language Courses. Interested in studying Chinese? Term 3 courses at the Confucius Institute at the University of Melbourne will run from July 17 -September 23. A wide range of Mandarin Chinese classes will be on offer, at all levels and are open to the general public.
