We have arranged for three very knowledgeable speakers with extensive experience in the Greater China Region. There will be light refreshments provided and a chance to socialise with the speakers after the event.
Lauren Johnston
Research Fellow, Faculty of Business and Economics, University of Melbourne
Lauren Johnston is from Melbourne, and has lived in Beijing for a total of seven years. She studied Chinese on exchange at Beijing Normal University as an undergraduate student. In 2013 Lauren completed a PhD in International Economics at Peking University, with support from a Chinese Government "Distinguished International Student" Scholarship. Her research at Melbourne University focuses on China/Africa trade and investment trends. Lauren is founder of Sinograduate, and has previously worked at the World Bank in Washington and World Economic Forum in Geneva.
Thomas Day
External Relations and Projects Manager, Confucius Institute at the University of Melbourne
Thomas Day is a Chinese speaker who has broad experience in the Greater China region where he has worked, lived and studied for over five years. Thomas’ in-depth understanding of the business, political and cultural ties that exist between Australia and China comes through his previous roles at the Australia China Alumni Association, Australia China Business Council Victorian Branch, Austrade Shanghai and the Australian Pavilion at the 2010 Shanghai World Expo.
Adam Davies
Confucius Institute Scholarship Recipient for 2013
Adam Davies builds websites that assist young Australians to make choices about their education and career goals. He has studied Chinese for five years, and in 2013 received a Confucius Institute scholarship to study Chinese at Tianjin Normal University
